The Exec

Mark Humphreys

Hi, I’m Mark and I study Sport Science. I am blessed to have the responsibility of leading this year and I’m looking forward to what God has in store for us as a Christian Union and individually. Having grown up over the peaks in Manchester to A levels and three years beyond, I was up for a change and am now loving Sheffield life! When not studying, eating or doing CU related things I’m likely playing badminton, piano or violin.

Ben Gray

Hi I'm Ben. I'm the Vice President and I'm currently studying sport science and exercise. I'm originally from Leicester and loosely follow Leicester city ever since they won the premier league . My interest are Rugby, tennis, skiing, surfing and playing the drums. I have been a Christian for 4 years and know people at both Hope city and Christchurch central to help you get started. Please feel free to speak to me about any concerns invoking university and sport at Hallam. Look forward to meeting you!

Sam Chubb

Hi, my name’s Sam. I’m a second year student studying Digital Media Production. I’m originally from Sheffield, so know my way around the city fairly well! This year I’m the treasurer of CU, so have the role of looking after the finances (and making sure everyone doesn’t spend too much, lol). Being a part of exec will allow me to develop my relationship with God, share his word and get to know other people who have the same ideas, something which I’m really excited for! I enjoy athletics, football and tennis, taking photos and videos wherever I can and would love to go travelling after uni.

Hollie Johnson

Hi all, my name is Hollie and I am an Occupational Therapy student at Hallam. I am so pleased to be getting more involved with the CU this year by taking on the role of secretary. Since coming to uni God has been growing my faith and I’m passionate about living more and more for Him each day. You’ll probably hear me singing wherever I go and are likely to find me in one of Sheffield’s many amazing coffee shops.

Catherine Gittens

Hi, my name is Catherine and I’m the Prayer Coordinator for the CU this year. I’m originally from Nottingham and chose to come up north to study Fine Art here in Sheffield, mainly because of the Peaks! Being part of the CU has strengthened my faith and prayer life, and I’m really looking forward to encouraging and facilitating prayer within CU this year. When I’m not in the Fine Art Studios, you’ll find me drawing in a coffee shop, swimming or going for a good old walk.

Kirsty Redfearn

Hi! I’m Kirsty, and I’m a second year nursing student from Newcastle. Life in Sheffield is class and trips to the peaks, good grub and the occasional visit to Bramall lane are just some of the reasons for that. Having grown up always going to the same church I was anxious about finding a new one but there are so many great churches here and I have quickly settled into Christ Church Fulwood where I have been challenged and encouraged (and v well fed!) After a lush first year at CU, I’m excited to see what God’s got planned for the year ahead!

Manon Hosie

Hi, I’m Manon and I’m doing events and communications for CU this year. If you’re not sure what that means, it generally involves a lot of social media and advertising. I have grown up in a Christian family, but I’ve realised how important trusting in Jesus for myself really is over the past couple of years- so I’d love to encourage anyone else in making this their faith at uni through the CU! Slightly fun facts (or not) about me: I’m from Newcastle, I’m currently studying psychology, and I love beaches and brunching!
